2004 SCHOLARSHIPS

Yuri Monchak - Bass

Yuri Monchak graduated from the Oginsk Academy of Music in 2001. He represented Belarussia in various German and French competitions in. Since 2002 Yuri has studied at the St. Petersburg State Conservatoire.

In 2004 he joined the Young Singers' Academy of the Mariinsky Theatre and in the same year he made his debut in the part of Antonio in Mozart's opera 'Le Nozze di Figaro'. He toured with the Mariinsky Theatre's new productions of 'The Nose', 'The Players' by Shostakovich and Dargomizhsky's 'The Stone Guest' in Finland and Sweden.

Repertoire: Prince Gremin in the opera 'Eugenie Onegin' Tchaikovsky, Kochubey in the opera "Mazeppa"Tchaikovsky, René in the opera "Iolanta"Verdi, Philippe in "Don Carlos".

Angelina Bechkova

Angelina Bechkova graduated from the music school in Luga.  From 2000 until 2004 she studied at the St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov Music College.  In 2004 Angelina became a student of the St. Petersburg State Conservatoire, joining the Young Singers' Academy of the Mariinsky theatre where she participated in the International Lisitian Competition.  In 2005 she took part in the IV International Competitor of Elena Obraztsova.

Angelina performs at the concerts of the Academy and in new productions of the Mariinsky Theatre: Rossini's 'Il Viaggio a Reims' and Verdi's 'Rigoletto'
